Bartlesville School Officials Apologize For Timing, Reviewing Procedures

Posted: Updated:
Bartlesville, Oklahoma -

Bartlesville schools apologized for school closure confusion, Thursday, Feb. 21.

Chris Tanea with Bartlesville Schools told KTUL.com that they will be reviewing class cancellation procedures.

Tanea said that administrators were surveying roads around 4:30 a.m. for an hour-and-half and saw no accumulation on roads. By 6:30 a.m., school officials planned to go on with a normal school day.

Around 7 a.m., school officials saw more accumulation on roads, following a temperature drop, during the time students were being picked up by school buses. Officials then made the decision to close around 7:40 a.m.

The students who were already at school or on a bus were taken back by 9:15 a.m.

Tanea stated that officials apologized for timing problems and will be reviewing their procedures.
