Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A pedestrian who stepped off a curb and into the path of oncoming traffic died at Medical University Hospital Thursday evening.

According to North Charleston police, the accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Ashley Phosphate and Stall roads.

The victim was taken to MUSC for treatment, where he later died, police said.

Police are still investigating the accident, but there are no charges expected for the driver.

The Charleston County coroner identified the victim as 62-year-old Samuel Grant.
