On Monday, Feb. 18, the first lamb of the season was born.
A representative for Middleton Place said the baby boy is thriving and The Middleton Place Foundation has invited the public to suggest a name for him.
The lamb's mother's name is Winter, and his grandmother's name is Noel, so preference will be given to names related to the winter season.
The contest will be conducted in two parts:
Name submissions can be made by commenting on the Middleton Place weblog on the "Name the Lamb Contest" page or in person at the Middleton Place Visitors Center.
Submissions will be accepted until 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28.
Middleton Place staff will pick their favorite from the suggested names, and the person who submitted the name will win two passes for free admission to Middleton Place.*
At 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, the top three suggested names will be posted in a survey on the Middleton Place Facebook page. The public will be allowed to vote for their favorite through the weekend (ending at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3). All votes will be entered into a pool, and a winner will be picked at random to take home two passes for free admission to Middleton Place.
The winning name will be announced at noon on Monday, March 4 on the Middleton Place Facebook page.
*If more than one person suggested the name, the winner will be chosen at random.
