CCSD approves addition of 4 days to school year for teachers
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – The Charleston County School Board met Monday night to decide if they will change the 2013-14 school calendar.
The board voted 8-1 to approve adding four additional days to the calendar for teachers that would allow training sessions for teachers to prepare for new curriculum requirements. The vote makes the 2013-2014 academic calendar 194 days.
There are new requirements for students, which the teachers will have to learn how to present in classrooms. The training sessions could cost nearly $5 million.
