Boil water advisory issued for portion of Berkeley County

Posted: Updated:

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- A boil water advisory has been issued for a portion of Berkeley County after officials say a water main ruptured Tuesday.

Berkeley County Water & Sanitation has issued the advisory for customers in the Berkeley Country Club Subdivision in Moncks Corner. They say the advisory was issued as a precaution.

Prior to use, residents are asked to boil all water that is used for drinking, cooking, and making ice. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil, and then boiled for an additional minute.

A BCWS water main ruptured in this area. BCWS crews have responded to this incident, but in order to facilitate the repair the water main was shut down. Officials say once pressure has been restored, crews will be flushing the mains and testing water samples to ensure that safe drinking water is restored to all homes.

Officials say testing results will not be known until late Thursday, February 28. This advisory will be in effect until further notice from BCWS.

Residents in this area are asked to call (843) 572-4400 or visit if they have any questions or concerns.
