DORCHESTER, S.C. (WCIV) -- A pedestrian was killed in Dorchester County early this morning, according to the South Carolina highway Patrol.
Troopers said it happened just before 5 p.m. along Second Bend Road off of I-26 in Harleyville.
The pedestrian was in the roadway and was hit by an oncoming car. The driver will not be charged and wasn't hurt.
According to the coroner, 54-year-old Joseph Fields was sitting in the road when he "was struck and
killed immediately."
Coroner Chris Nesbit says he believes alcohol, on Mr. Fields part, will play a large part in this accident and that toxicology
will be sent to the State Law Enforcement Division.
