GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCIV) -- A routine patrol turned into an arrest for drug violations for Georgetown County Sheriff's deputies Monday.

According to a release from the GCSO, around 3:30 a.m. deputies saw a large crowd and smelled marijuana at Browns Sugar Shack at the intersection of Powell Road and Saints Delight Road in the Sampit Community of Georgetown County.

Deputies report they found "multiple bindles of what appeared to be heroin" near one of the vehicles in the parking lot. Deputies then said 24-year-old Anthony Brent Armstead came out and got into that vehicle.

Sheriff's deputies found twelve heroin bindles totaling about 1.2 grams and what they believe was a marijuana blunt.

Armstead is charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and simple possession of marijuana.
