MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - Police released dash cam video of the Mount Pleasant councilman who was charged with driving under the influence over the weekend.
In the video, John Burn is wearing a tuxedo. He told the arresting officer that he was coming from a cotillion at Alhambra Hall. A police report indicated that the officer smelled alcohol on Burn.
Police say Burn rear-ended another person stopped at a traffic light near the intersection of Coleman Boulevard and Fairmont Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
The video shows Burn go through a battery of field sobriety tests, including trying to walk heel-to-toe and stand on one foot. When he refused to recite the alphabet between the letters D and R, he was arrested, the video shows.
Court documents released Tuesday show Burn was once entangled in a sex scandal.
