ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) - Lt. Randy Culler with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office earned a merit medal from the National Sheriffs' Association.
"The National Sheriffs' Association has awarded Lt. Randy Culler a Medal of Merit ‘for contribution to your community, and to The field of Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice.' Culler is a 16-year career law enforcement officer that has excelled in various positions and divisions at the Sheriff's Office," said Sheriff Leroy Ravenell.
Culler was nominated by this agency based on his exemplary investigative skills and his steadfast resolve to locate missing persons and capture criminals.
Ravenell said Culler has been instrumental in several notable investigations including the disappearance of Hope Bowers and Latonia Profit in March 2012. The suspect, Vicente Mendoza aka Vicente Mendoza Palomino was arrested on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, by authorities near Ville Platte, Louisiana, by a team of Louisiana State Police, Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal Service.
"I am grateful for the leadership and resolve of Lt. Culler. He is an outstanding member of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office," Ravenell said.
