COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) -- Gas prices across the state dipped another 3.5 cents over the last week, setting the average price per gallon at $3.48 per gallon on Sunday, according to gas tracking website Gas Buddy.
The company says national averages dipped by 3.2 cents over the last week to $3.66 per gallon.
Prices in South Carolina are now 5.3 cents lower than the same day a year ago and 15.3 cents higher than the same day a month ago. The national average is 10.2 cents above where it was a month ago and 8.8 cents lower than a year ago, the website reports.
"Relief at the pump
has continued for motorists in a majority of the United States during the last
week," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "I would
caution motorists, however, not to sound the all clear. Refineries will be
continuing their switch over to cleaner burning gasoline, and there certainly is
the possibility that one mishap could send prices racing higher, much to the
disappointment of motorists nationwide," DeHaan said.
