Pedestrian hit on Savannah Highway

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A pedestrian was hit on Savannah Highway near White Oak Road on Tuesday night, city police said.

According to police, the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment.

Police did not release details on the pedestrian's injuries.

Southbound traffic was been shut down while police officers, firefighters and an EMS crew work.

The roadway reopened around 11:15 p.m.
