Firefighters investigating early morning fire in Summerville

Posted: Updated:

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) - An empty two-story building was damaged by fire early Wednesday morning. Now investigators are investigating what started the fire.

According to Old Fort Fire Department investigators, the fire at the two-story building at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 17A started around 5 a.m.

An old bait and tackle shop used to sit in the first floor and the second floor was an apartment, officials said. However, both levels have been empty for months.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly and no one was injured.
