CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- According to a person with knowledge of the investigation, dive teams are combing a pond after investigators got a tip in the case of missing mom, Gayle McCaffrey.

The pond is located off Bees Ferry Road, not far from where previous searches have been conducted in the year since Gayle went missing.

"The Charleston County Dive Team conducts monthly dive training in various waterways in Charleston County to remain proficient. As part of their monthly dive training the ponds off of Bears Swamp was chosen as a location for this training," said CCSO spokesperson Major James Brady. "The training was not intended specifically to be a search in the Gayle McCaffrey case however with the proximity of the pond and the residence the idea was to use the training time as an opportunity possibly assist in the case."

Meanwhile, our reporter has learned that boats equipped with side scan sonar are focusing on parts of the pond where a body could be located. Officials tell us the divers have been out since early on Tuesday and have already ruled out parts of the pond.

Traci Jones lives near the pond and noticed emergency vehicles there around 9 a.m.

"There were fire trucks. I walked around to see what was going on and found out they were looking for a body in this pond," Jones said.

Dive teams wrapped up around 12:30 p.m. and officials say no new searches are planned for the day.

Investigators ask that if anyone has any information in the disappearance of Gayle McCaffrey contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at 843-202-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.

Brady also said investigators have told Bob McCaffrey's attorney they would like to speak with him. He said McCaffrey's attorney has not made him available to the sheriff's department.

Gayle McCaffrey was reported missing from her residence by her husband Robert McCaffrey on March 18, 2012.

Robert McCaffrey told deputies that he last saw Gayle  McCaffrey on March  17, 2012, around 10:00 p.m. before he left the residence to travel to Easley, S.C.

Gayle McCaffrey has not been seen or heard from since being reported missing. Her husband has been named a suspect but no arrests have been made.
