Dogs Shot, Investigation Continues

Posted: Updated:

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5000 reward for information in a dog shooting case.

Wagoner County Sheriff Deputies say a person or persons shot two penned dogs Feb. 10th.

A resident reported his home had been burglarized and his two dogs, Brownie and Cody, were shot.  The dogs were outside the house in pens.

Brownie and Cody were both 11 years old.  The picture was taken when they were puppies.

"We hope our reward helps find whoever is responsible for shooting these innocent dogs who were penned at the time of the reported burglary, and posed no threat to any intruder," said Cynthia Armstrong, Oklahoma state director for The Humane Society of the United States.

A news release indicates studies have found a correlation between animal cruelty and all manner of other crimes, from narcotics and firearms violations to battery and sexual assault.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Wagoner County Tip Line at 918-485-7799.
