CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- It started with a burglar alarm at an office building and when police arrived, they reported smoke coming from the door.
Now, a former employee of a law firm that shared that building is charged with burglary in the second degree and arson in the third degree.
Charleston Police arrested 46-year-old Julie Eckert Thrush. According to CPD, she used to work at Manaker Law Firm.
The fire occurred around 11:30 p.m. on November 9 in the crawl space under
the building at 571 Folly Road, near the area of the only crawl space door.
Firefighters battled hot spots for at least three hours. Officials said there was heavy damage inside the building and stairwells were burned through.
