NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police responded to Philly's House of Cheese Steak on Rivers Avenue Thursday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson with the NCPD, a male victim said he was on his way to the S&L Supermarket when a black male got out of a vehicle at Rivers Ave and Gullah Lane and began firing shots.

Store manager Othniel Malden stood right where a shooting victim collapsed inside the Philly's House of Cheesesteaks on North Rivers Avenue.

"It's nerve racking, it's nerve racking but we are getting over it and trying to get back to business as usual," said Malden.

Malden said his store was closed for two hours while police investigated the crime scene. North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said the victim was shot in the leg.

"A man jumped out of a vehicle started firing shots at him he ran behind the building and into the super market where police were called," said Pryor.

Malden said he heard the pop but thought nothing of it. He said 30 seconds later the victim came in crying for help.

"A gentleman came in screaming and collapsed on the floor that he had been shot, he was losing a lot of blood. So at that point we called 911, police and EMS arrived," said Malden.

Pryor said the victim is recovering at Medical University Hospital.

Police are still looking for the shooter.
