MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) — Edward Yannacey faced a judge on Friday after being charged with two counts of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing Moncks Corner's former police chief.

His bond was set at $400,000.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, a deputy responded to Watermark Bar and Grill in Bonneau on Thursday. When the officer arrived, he was greeted by a large crowd of people near the front entrance of the restaurant.

The deputy reportedly witnessed several people, including the owner of the restaurant, busy holding Yannacey to the ground. The deputy on scene said Yannacey appeared to be intoxicated.

According to the incident report, the owner of the restaurant had previously told the suspect to leave but later saw a second man, identified as Rodney Yon, fighting outside the bar. When a deputy arrived on scene, he found Yon lying on the ground surrounded by a group of people.

Deputies say he stabbed Greg Hoover in what appeared to be the hip area. Hoover once served as the chief of police for Moncks Corner for more than a decade until he was fired for DUI in 2001.

Deputies say Yon was also stabbed in the leg.

Both men are said to be recovering from their injuries. Yannacey's next court date is scheduled for May 10.
