One person killed in Saturday morning wreck in Moncks Corner

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) - Troopers say a person died in a single car accident in Berkeley County Saturday morning.

According to Bob Beres with the Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on US 176 near Wassamassaw Lane in Moncks Corner.

Beres says the 1999 Ford Expedition drove off the road, striking trees and a brick wall.

The driver of the car was killed in the accident.

The coroner's office identified the driver as 33-year-old Daniel Kelley of Goose Creek. According to the coroner's office, Kelley's SUV ran off the right side of the roadway and went several hundred feet into a wooded area before hitting several trees and a brick column.

He was reportedly found by a passing motorist. He was still wearing his seatbelt, officials said.

In a follow-up email on Sunday, the coroner's office said Kelley's death was natural, adding that injuries he sustained in the accident were not life-threatening. There were other issues that caused Kelley's death, the coroner said.
