Homicide Detectives Arrest Three Teenagers in Papa Johns Murder

Posted: Updated:

Three 17-year-olds were taken into custody Monday afternoon after a shooting that left one man dead at a Papa Johns early Saturday morning.

Tulsa Police arrested the teenagers on charges of first-degree murder Monday in connection with the murder of Robert Horton who had been delivering dough to the Papa Johns near 2800 E. 11 Street when he was shot twice in the chest.

TPD's Dave Walker told KTUL.com that homicide detectives were able to make the arrests after releasing surveillance footage of the vehicle at the scene and matching it to a vehicle in the area. He said that led them to patrol units finding the vehicle involved in the homicide around 1:30 a.m. Monday near 5100 S. Peoria.

According to the release from the Homicide Unit, two 17-year-olds were arrested with outstanding warrants. A third 17-year-old suspect was transported to the detective division for his involvement in the homicide.

Tulsa Homicide Unit believe the murder occurred after a robbery went bad, however there is no indication of missing property.

Police say it is not a common occurrence for delivery workers to be held up like this. The two workers had made the delivery to the store in a large semi truck from Arlington.
