COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Prosecutors say an Irmo man accused of killing his wife and a business associate last year will go on trial next month.
WIS-TV reported that jury selection is to begin May 6 in the trial of Brett Parker.
Parker is accused of killing 44-year-old Tammy Parker and 46-year-old Bryan Capnerhurst in the couple's home last April.
Investigators say Parker ran a gambling operation from his home and owed Capnerhurst about $20,000 from bets.
Prosecutors say Parker killed his wife to try to collect more than $1 million in insurance money and retirement accounts.
Parker initially told sheriff's investigators that he acted in self-defense.
