FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) - The State Law Enforcement Division has confirmed that no criminal activity was found in regards to the fire at a Folly Beach apartment last week.

A Folly Beach man, 43-year-old Tom Thiel, was found dead in his burned-out Center Street apartment March 22.

Chief Dennis Brown says the first call came in at 3:42 a.m. The fire occurred inside an apartment above a garage located next to Flipper Finders, a boat and kayak tour company.

Officials have not confirmed where it originated but do say it only affected Thiel's apartment unit.

The cause has been ruled undetermined by SLED investigators.
