Stabbing investigation leads to assault, burglary charges for man

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- While responding to a reported stabbing in a North Charleston neighborhood, deputies say they found a violent domestic dispute that nearly resulted in a baby being hit with a brick.

Deputies were called to Leslie Street around 11 a.m. Tuesday by a man, identified as Ramon Thomas, who said his child's mother stabbed him as he was walking down the street.

When deputies met with the woman, they found that Thomas and the woman had exchanged words and then he pushed her head into a door and forced his way insider her home, she told officers.

Thomas allegedly assaulted the woman several more times, deputies said. However, the woman was able to grab a knife from the kitchen and chased Thomas out of the residence, according to a report. In the process it appears that Thomas grabbed the knife and sustained several cuts to his fingers, deputies said.

According to deputies, Thomas ran around the rear of the victim's house and attempted to break in through the back door. Thomas then allegedly threw part of a brick through the rear window, breaking the window and nearly striking the woman and Thomas' 1-year-old child.

Thomas was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, second-degree burglary and unlawful conduct towards a child.

Thomas was booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
