St. Stephen man dies after car flips into field

ST. STEPHEN, S.C. (WCIV) - A St. Stephen man died in a single car accident early Saturday morning.

According to the coroner, 31-year-old Raclaydran Jenkins drove off Mendel Rivers Road around 1 a.m. Saturday and hit a fire hydrant, telephone box and a stop sign. The car then flipped over and landed in a nearby field.

The coroner says Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries to his head and body.

Firefighters had to pull Jenkins from the Lincoln SUV.  The coroner says he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
