CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Department of Public Safety at the College of Charleston issued an alert Monday morning after a series of attacks on and near the campus.

According to the alert, four different female victims called police after man tried to grab them and either push them inside a car or pull them into an alleyway.

The first incident happened on March 27, police said. According to the report, a female student was outside her home on Bogard Street when a man tried to sexually assault her. The victim told police she did not know the man who attacked her, but said she thought she had seen him in her neighborhood previously.

The second incident happened on April 4 near the Crosstown. In that incident, a black male in his late 20s in a red car with large rims stopped the suspect and asked her if she needed a ride. When she said no, the suspect got out of the vehicle, grabbed the woman's arm and tried to force her into the car.

She was able to escape and call police, the report states.

The third incident happened on April 5 on King Street. The victim told police a white man in his 30s tried to grab her and pull her into an alleyway on King Street. Police say the girl's friends made her call police after she relayed the story to them.

In the fourth event, three men in a gray van near St. Philip and Liberty streets yelled at a girl walking down the street. The victim said she felt threatened by the men and ran to call police.

Officials said  they did not know if the instances are related.
