MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) - Elizabeth Colbert (KOHL'-buhrt) Busch says former Gov. Mark Sanford is playing fast and loose with the facts in their South Carolina's 1st Congressional District race.

Sanford on Monday criticized the use of federal stimulus money for the Clemson Wind Turbine Drivetrain Research facility in North Charleston where Colbert Busch is employed. He said the federal money has created or saved only 134 jobs at a cost of $320,000 per job.

Colbert Busch responded that the facility is still under construction, and studies show the wind industry in the state will eventually create 20,000 good paying jobs for South Carolina.

And she says that while Sanford was governor, the state unemployment rate was near a record high.

The two meet May 7 in a special election for the vacant congressional seat.
