JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Crews from St. Johns Fire and Rescue, Charleston County Sheriff's Office and EMS are leaving the scene of a water rescue at 3716 Mary Ann Point Rd. The missing boater was found.

The coroner's office identified the man as 65-year-old Lovell Linton of Johns Island.

According to CCSO spokesperson Major James Brady, The Charleston County Underwater Recovery Team assisted the St John's Fire Department locate a man who fell from the bank into the pond.

The call came in around 11:40 a.m.

The 65-year-old man lost his footing and fell into the pond. His wife, who was in their home at the time Linton fell, tried to help him but she couldn't get to him so she called 911.

Initial reports stated that Linton fell out of a small boat into the pond, but the boat that was located nearby was not involved in the incident, officials later said.

Family and friends are on the scene as well as chaplains. The coroner has been called and is on the way.
