Pedestrian dead after being hit by Amtrak train

KINGSTREE, S.C. (WCIV) -- A pedestrian is dead after being hit by an Amtrak train early Thursday, according to officials.

The Williamsburg County sheriff identified the victim as 55-year-old Albert Tisdale of Kingstree. However, the official cause of death is still being investigated by the coroner's office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A spokesperson for the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the pedestrian was hit along Wheeler Street near Kingstree around 12:33 a.m.

The train was heading north at the time of impact.

The crash is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
