CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP/WCIV) -- Digital technology and the people who work with it are being recognized with a festival in Charleston.

The first Dig South festival gets under way on Friday and continues through the weekend.

The event is bringing together those who work in technology, social media, marketing and the arts.

Those starting software companies, entrepreneurs, and those who handle digital content for large companies are discussing everything from digital innovation, platforms and channels and marketing to e-commerce, software development and mobile technology.

The event is being held at the College of Charleston's TD Arena and other venues around the city.

If you want to attend one of the live music 'side shows' or enter the Expo where the vendors are set up, tickets are as low as $15.

If you want to attend any of the panels held during the conference, however, be ready to fork over at least $189. An all-access pass is a lofty $435. Presenters include tech reps from CNN Digital, Facebook and TechCrunch.

The keynote speaker is Robert Tercek, the chairman for Creative Visions Foundation. He's credited on Dig South's website as being "one of Hollywood's most prolific creators of interactive entertainment" having worked for The Oprah Winfrey Network, Sony Pictures Entertainment and MTV.
