NCPD investigate stabbing on Chicora Ave.

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police responded to a neighborhood on Chicora Avenue off Spruill Avenue just after midnight Friday for reports of a stabbing.

Police were focused on an area near several apartments. Our crew also spotted police looking for clues along the street.

According to the police report, officers found the victim, a 26-year-old black male, sitting shirtless in the front yard of a Baxter Street home holding a bath towel up to his right shoulder. Officers found his shirt next to him covered in blood.

The victim told police he was at his aunt's home at the corner or Token and Chicora to wash his clothes. He said as he left to go back to his home on Baxter, three black men came up to him asking "What you got?"

The only description the victim could give police was that one of the men was wearing a white t-shirt and the other two were wearing black t-shirts.

The victim said he told them he didn't have anything so they started to punch him in the face and right shoulder before walking away. That's when he said he noticed blood on his right arm.

After the victim was sent to MUSC for treatment, officers went to the home he said was his aunt's house but no one there claimed to know him, saying he just showed up to the apartment complex to do his laundry.

The report also states that the victim's account of what happened continued to change before he went to MUSC. He said he had been drinking all day while residents of the apartment complex said he had also been smoking crack all day. Another resident of the complex told police the attack happened on Quitman Ave. and not where the victim had said it happened.
