Gas prices dip another 5 cents in SC

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) - Gas prices across the state have dipped another 5.3 cents in the last week to an average price of $3.28 per gallon.

According to gas price tracking website, the dip is part of a larger downward trend in SC gas prices that have resulted in prices being 17.7 cents lower than one month ago and 42.2 cents cheaper than one year ago.

National, prices fell 5 cents to an average of $3.52 per gallon.

"The national average continues to be driven down as oil prices have fallen in recent weeks," said Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.

Average prices in the U.S. are down 13.8 cents per gallon over the last month and 37 cents lower than one year ago.

"The year on year savings is approaching 40 cents a gallon in some spots- not necessarily hitting the lottery, but every cent counts. As we get closer to Memorial Day there's also the chance of an increase in pricing volatility thanks to refinery maintenance season that will be gradually coming to a close," DeHaan said.
