HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Harrisburg police have identified a man who died a week after he was assaulted by an unknown attacker.
Gerald Pendelton, 59, of no fixed address, died Saturday at Harrisburg Hospital. An autopsy Monday indicated that he apparently died the result of a brain hemorrhage, according to city police, who said the investigation continues into the manner of death.
Pendelton, who had a last known address in Allison Hill, had been in the hospital since April 6 when he was found unconscious in the 100 block of Locust Street.
A woman who witnessed the incident told investigators that a man in a red car stopped, got out of the car and punched the
victim in the face. She said the victim fell and his attacker drove off, according to police.
The witness, who has since spoken to detectives, also reported that there were children in the car who were screaming and crying, police said.
