Pedestrian hit by train in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Summerville Fire and Rescue is responding to reports of a pedestrian that has been hit by a train.

Crews just arrived on the scene at North Maple and Luke streets around 12:40 p.m. EMS and Summerville Police are also there.

Dorchester Coroner Chris Nesbit said the victim is a white female, but was not ready to release an identity or details about the incident.

Nesbit on Tuesday night identified the woman and said the death was an apparent suicide.
