CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - A section of King Street in downtown Charleston was shut down Tuesday afternoon due to a gas leak.

According to Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh, a construction crew hit a gas line at 429 King Street. The roadway is currently closed between Ann and Morris streets.

Crews from SCE&G are on the scene assessing the situation, Julazadeh said.

There is no timeline on the roadway reopening, he said.
