WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) - A pair of City of Charleston police officers on Tuesday night were taken to a hospital after a car accident in West Ashley, Highway Patrol officials said.

According to Trooper Bridget Wyant,  a pickup truck driven by Robert Zimmerman exited I-526 and disregarded a traffic light which led to a collision with a Charleston Police Department cruiser.

The two officers inside the cruiser, identified as Robert Wilbanks and Klever Wells, were taken to Medical University Hospital by EMS, Wyant said. Zimmerman was also taken to MUSC, officials said.

Information about their conditions was not released.

Wyant said Zimmerman was charged with driving under the influence.

The wreck is still being investigated by Highway Patrol.
