CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – The red carpet is rolled out for the biggest show in town. The Charleston International Film Festival is celebrating its sixth year and it's already got big plans for the future.

"Every year we beat the year before and my goal is to make it bigger and better every year," said Charleston International Film Festival [CIFF] President and Co-founder, Summer Peacher.

"The idea was we started as a four-day event at one theatre and now we are five days over two theatres. We are playing 85 films representing 15 countries, so the idea is that we are playing primarily shorts but that there is something for everyone."

This year, attendees are treated to more screenings and more Q&A with special guests including the producer of Argo and Inception, Chris Brigham, and the cinematographer of Jaws and Rocky, Bill Butler.

"They get to actually mingle with the people behind the scenes, so you get to come in and see some great films that you wouldn't see anywhere else. They get to meet the filmmakers and do Q&A with the filmmakers and go to awesome after parties -- what more could you ask for," Peacher said.

CIFF expects to see 7,000 attendees this year with 20 percent of people from out of state and with some guests coming as far as Germany and the UK – all for the love of film.

"The idea of the film festival is to show films that people are not going to see anywhere else," Peacher said. "To take someone into a movie theatre and take them into another place by watching a movie."

Tickets are still available for the Charleston International Festival and can be purchased at the CIFF pop-up shop in Downtown Charleston at 556 King Street or by clicking here.
