MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Myrtle Beach man was sentenced to almost two years in prison for his part in a bank fraud case on Friday.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 39-year-old Joseph Robert Guernsey was sentenced to 21 months in prison and ordered to pay back more than $140,000.

Prosecutors showed Guernsey was involved in a two-year scheme to defraud various organizations of money by filing false loan applications totaling $1 million. He was the owner of Southern Auto Sales in Myrtle Beach at the time, the Attorney's office said.

The FBI investigated the case.
