GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two women were arrested and charged with a host of crimes after one of the women's children was taken from a Goose Creek school without permission.

According to Goose Creek police spokesperson Capt. John Grainger, 26-year-old Neely Blanchard and 25-year-old Ferdauss Rahmatullah were stopped about 30 minutes after they picked up Blanchard's child from Westview Primary School.

Police were told that the women did not have custody of the child so they set up patrols at all roads leading out of the city and put out a 'be on the lookout' alert. By 8:45 a.m., the women had been located by a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper near the 187 mile marker on westbound Interstate 26.

Blanchard faces charges of trespassing, disturbing school, custodial interference, conspiracy to commit custodial interference, and unlawful possession of Schedule IV narcotics. Deputies said the narcotics charge stems from prescription pills Blanchard had. They believe she was not legally allowed to have those pills, officials said.

Rahmatullah faces charges of trespassing, disturbing school, conspiracy to commit custodial interference and first-degree assault and battery, which stems from injuries a school employee sustained while trying to stop Blanchard and Rahmatullah from leaving the school.

Officials said the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police say the child is safe and back with her grandmother, who has legal custody. Because the matter was solved so quickly, an Amber Alert wasn't issued.

Officials at Berkeley County Schools issued a statement saying the child was safe.

"The child is safe and has been reunited with the custodial guardians. The school continues to follow its normal procedures to ensure the safety of the campus," the statement read.

Blanchard and Rahmatullah are being held in the Hill Finklea Detention Center. Bond hearings are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
