COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Senate Ethics Committee has accused state Sen. Robert Ford of intentionally altering documents as the legislative panel reviewed his campaign records.

The committee added the allegation Thursday to its complaint against the Charleston Democrat. The amended complaint was signed by 10 of his colleagues.

It comes two weeks after the committee found probable cause to support allegations that Ford committed multiple violations of state ethics laws over the last four years.

The committee says Ford used campaign donations for personal expenses, misrepresented expenses as campaign-related and reported incorrect amounts for what he spent.

His attorney William Runyon has said the problems stem from unintentional bookkeeping errors. Runyon said Thursday the notes and alterations on the documents were for Ford's use and weren't meant to mislead the committee.
