Study: Eat At Home For Thinner Waistline

Americans love to eat out in restaurants, but when we cook our own meals it's better for our waistlines.

Experts say we consume about 135 more calories per meal when we eat out compared to what we cook ourselves.

That's because restaurant and processed foods tend to have more sugar, salt, and fat.

Eating at home is also good for children.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says young people who eat more family meals tend to eat more fruits, vegetables and calcium-rich foods.
