COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Deputies making a traffic stop late Friday morning managed to capture one of the people they say was involved in a fuel theft from the National Guard Armory.

According to the Colleton County Sheriff's Office, when deputies stopped Andy Montjoy, he ran. Police alerted nearby schools and a perimeter was set up, deputies said. K-9 units were called in and were able to track him to a wooded area and corner him, deputies added.

Montjoy was charged with breaking into a vehicle, grand larceny, and using a vehicle without the owner's permission.

Deputies said he may also be charged with more crimes related to fleeing the traffic stop.

Earlier this month, deputies arrested 42-year-old Clarence Edward Risher Jr., and 43-year-old Melinda Montjoy Risher were arrested after officers searched two homes on Risher Mountain Road. During the search, officers found nearly 2,700 gallons of fuel.

The find came after Department of Natural Resources used a plane and ATVs to search the area and linked the two homes to the theft.
