NEWPORT, Pa. (WHTM) -
State police in Newport are investigating the theft of guns during burglaries at two Perry County homes.
Police said someone broke a door window to get into a home in the first block of Center Road in Buffalo Township between Friday and Saturday.
Whoever is responsible then took three shotguns: a Browning Auto-5 with gold trigger engravings, a Mossberg 835 Ultra-Mag 12-gauge semi-automatic in Mossy Oak camouflage, and a Mossberg 500 12-gauge pump; as well as four rifles: a Browning A-Bolt .30-06 with a Leupold scope; a Remington .22-250 laminate stock with Bushnell scope; a Marlin .35 Remington lever-action with Tasco scope; and a Colt AR-15.
At the other location, in the 300 block of Pisgah State Road in Carroll Township, someone forced their way into the home through a rear window sometime between 8 a.m. and noon Friday, police said in a news release.
The burglar or burglars then stole a H&R .22 caliber revolver with white handgrips; a cigar box with silver dollars, wheat pennies and buffalo nickels; a silver necklace; and a Garmin GPS unit, police said.
