CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The man federal agents said led a murder for higher plot to kill Nancy Latham, the state lottery commission's treasurer, appeared in federal court Monday.

The planned hit dates back to April and stretches from Kentucky to Charleston. One of the charged conspirators is also said to have had an affair with the Latham's husband, Chris Latham.

Samuel Yenawine's arraignment was postponed Monday, but news of the fourth arrest in the case was first brought up while Yenawine was in court. At the same time, federal indictments against Yenawine were unsealed.

In addition to Yenawine, Aaron Wilkinson and Wendy Moore were also arrested last month as conspirators to the murder for hire plot. Rachel Palmer was arrested more recently in Kentucky. She's now charged as the fourth conspirator.

Federal documents said Yenawine and Wilkinson agreed to accept as much as $30,000 to kill Latham at, or near her home on Sullivan's Island.

Moore, Yenawine's ex-wife, reportedly helped plan the hit and also delivered part of the payment to Yenawine.

Based on court documents, Moore allegedly had an affair with Christopher Latham, which ties him to the other suspects. Mr. Latham has not been charged in connection to the plot but he was named in a civil suit, as "contacting Yenawine to kill Mrs. Latham and anyone else with her at the time of the murder attempt."

Palmer, the fourth person now charged, officials said is Yenawine's current girlfriend.

Yenawine returned to jail after Monday's brief appearance. His attorney from Kentucky must first find him local representation for proceedings to continue. A future court hearing has not been scheduled.
