MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- By the Tailrace Canal, near Gilligan's Restaurant, in Moncks Corner sits a makeshift memorial garden for the many lives already lost to the river. Two more names now join its list of victims.

"We loved him. He was just an all around genuine person, just a very good person," said Chris Cissell, a longtime friend of Robert "Cro" Andrews.

Cissell says he spoke to Andrews just two hours before he disappeared into the Cooper River Saturday.

"He said he was going to go boating with a couple of fellows and I said, 'Y'all have a good time and be careful,'" said Cissell.

He says while on the boat, Andrews, originally from Boston, jumped out of it, landed on his back and never resurfaced.

"He made a bad decision and that's what it is," said Cissell. "He just always had a smile on his face. We just a kind fellow and he'd do anything for you."

As rescue crews searched for Andrews, they then got another call about a boating collision involving Robbie Mullinax who was thrown into the river.

"I ever thought it would be Robbie. It was a shock," said Jeff Thrower, a friend of Robbie Mullinax.

The two men played baseball together at Timberland High School.

"I met him 13 years ago when he transferred to Timberland and we became instant friends," said Thrower. "He had an infectious personality. You just wanted to be around him. He was a fun guy."

Tragically, both men were lost suddenly but never forgotten by those who loved them.

"He was a great husband, great friend, a great brother," said Thrower. "That's how I want to remember Robbie."

"We'll miss him," said Cissell, referring to Andrews.

Friends say Andrews leaves behind a wife and several children. Mullinax was newly married. His wife was also in the boating collision and is recovering from her injuries.
