COTTAGEVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men wanted for dragging an 84-year-old man who was trying to stop them from stealing metal.

According to Sheriff Andy Strickland, the victim found two men stealing his property last Thursday afternoon near Cottageville in Colleton County and followed them to Low Country Recyclers on Round-O Road.

Strickland said the suspects tried to leave when the victim grabbed the driver of the silver Saturn Station Wagon.  The sheriff said the thieves drug the elderly victim about 60 yards through dirt and rocks before he fell to the ground.

Strickland said the victim was transported to Colleton Regional Hospital where he is in serious condition suffering from multiple lacerations, abrasions and internal injuries.

Now, police have arrested two suspects, 23-year-old David B. Mays of 247 Nuthatch Lane and 25-year-old  John Todd Terry, Jr.  of 231 Majestic Oak Lane, both of Cottageville.

Mays is charged with Grand Larceny and Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. Terry is charged with Grand Larceny.
