CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Vandals destroyed a water fountain in a downtown Charleston man's front yard earlier this month. The fountain is valued at $25,000, according to police.
A police report states the man woke on the morning of June 1 to find the cast iron Fisk fountain smashed into pieces and lying in a small pond in his front yard.
The man told police he has surveillance cameras at his Radcliffe Street home, adding that the video shows someone entering his property around 2 a.m. and then running, the report states.
According to the report, the man told police he thought the vandalism could have been fueled by his request that the city tow several cars that were blocking his driveway. He also said a man had been arrested outside his home for sleeping in a car in January.
Officers checked the footage and described the man as white with an average height and build. He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, the report states.
