MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Work is under way to rebuild the Windsor Green condominiums near Myrtle Beach that were ravaged by a wildfire in March.

The fire destroyed 26 buildings and left 190 people homeless.

John Gurley with the local homeowners association told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that framing is up for seven new units. He says all the units are expected to be finished by the end of January.

The March 16 wildfire was fed by winds of 30 mph that whipped through the complex west of Myrtle Beach. No people were killed although 80 pets died.

An Horry County sheriff's deputy who guarded the site for two nights was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for respiratory problems. He later died of bird flu.
