NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A local distillery is offering a $10,000 reward for information on a stolen shipment of Chicken Cock whiskey.

According to the company's website, 884 cases of Chicken Cock were stolen from a truck stop in Florence last weekend.

The website reports that the 18 wheeler had left the distillery in North Charleston and was on its way to Texas when it stopped at a Petro gas station. The tractor trailer, along with more then 10,000 bottles of Cock Whiskey, was stolen.

Eventually the cab was recovered but the trailer and its contents were not.

"I guess it's fitting that a brand that rose to prominence as a bootleg bourbon during prohibition gets hijacked just as it returns to market in 2013," said Matti Anttila, owner and president of Chicken Cock Whiskey. "While I appreciate the irony in this situation, we really would like our whiskey back."

Anttila estimates that while the whiskey has a retail value of over $200,000, it would be worth as much as $1.4 million if sold through restaurants or bars.

He requested that anyone with information regarding the tractor trailer theft please contact the Florence County sheriff's department. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

Update: On Wed. June 19, it was announced that the trailer was located by investigators, but the whiskey is still missing and the reward is still unclaimed.
