CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The South Carolina State Ports Authority is holding its final meeting for fiscal 2013.
The board meets in Charleston on Tuesday and is expected to adopt its budget for the fiscal year that begins on July 1. During the year, the authority's new inland port in Greer will be opening.
The inland port allows the transfer of cargo from trucks to be taken by train to the coast, reducing truck traffic on busy Interstate 26.
Also on the agenda for the meeting is the purchase of two new container cranes for the authority's North Charleston terminal.
