Trident Tech student arrested for carrying gun on campus

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Trident Tech student was arrested Tuesday night for illegally carrying a weapon on campus, officials said.

According to Meg Howell, Vice President of Advancement at Trident Technical College,  Blake Mims was arrested at the Rivers Avenue Trident Tech campus Tuesday night around 7 p.m.

Howell said Mims is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Mims has been an enrolled full-time student since the summer of 2007 and is currently taking summer classes at Trident.

Howell said Mims was not threatening anyone or showing any kind of threatening behavior on campus but was arrested without incident by Public Safety and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
