Posted: Updated:

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police on Friday released the name and photo of a man they say is wanted in connection to a shooting at a West Ashley apartment complex that wounded one man.

Charleston Police Department officials identified the suspect as 22-year-old Deontre Jerrell Pierce. Police said he is currently wanted for questioning, but there is not an active warrant for his arrest.

According to Charleston Police Department officials, the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. June 14 outside the Ashley Oaks Apartments on Ashley Hall Plantation Road.

Police said Juwan Anthony Reid, 18, was found outside one of the apartments and was taken to Medical University Hospital. A police report shows Reid had been shot in the head.

A silver Lincoln Town Car that was parked near the victim was towed away so that it could be checked for evidence by police, the report states.

Police said they have tried to contact Pierce several times, but have not been successful so far.
